Statement

arthandsAs an artist I have fought with myself to find my true form of art and security within myself. At one point, I didn’t pick up a paint brush for almost a year because I couldn’t grasp who I was and why I was trying so hard to create. I didn’t feel worthy of what I produced. Therefore, I began to challenge myself creatively. Forcing time in the studio to either sit in silence with my work and allow thought and meditation or painting whatever came to mind. As I continued this process, I was able to find acceptance of myself, direction, and a deeper understanding of who I am. I allowed my emotions to guide my work. I began to focus on specific emotions on different pieces to process what I have been through and continue to go through on my journey.

I persevere to further know and understand myself, to understand my subconscious through the stroke of a brush.
